The Bangsamoro Mufti Abdul Rauf Guialani has declared that Ramadan fasting in the Philippines will officially commence on Tuesday, 12 March 2024, following the outcome of moonsighting
President Marcos yesterday expressed hope that the religious occasion would “strengthen kinship” among Filipinos.
As he joined the Muslim community in observance of Ramadan or the holy month of fasting,
“It is my hope that this month-long celebration will strengthen our kinship, open our hearts to forgive past grievances and embrace a spirit of harmony that will redound to our collective progress,” Marcos said in his message.
During Ramadan, observant Muslims refrain from eating and drinking from dawn to dusk, and traditionally gather with family and friends to break their fast in the evening.
It is also a time of prayer, when the faithful converge in large numbers at mosques, especially at night.
